Girls are raised to be perfect.
Reshma Saujani’s Ted Talk about teaching girls bravery resonated with me. During my educational and professional career, there have been several instances where I chose to show nothing at all instead of showing progress.
Margaret Making is a video series that attempts to defy the socialization of perfection. It consists of mini projects that respects the process as much as the final product. I play around with new programs (Fusion 360) and have fun with old ones (Adobe Photoshop).
Showing imperfections in my work has proven to be a vulnerable process for me. But it’s allowed me the space to make mistakes, learn from them, and more importantly - have fun again with creating.
